A friend was throwing out a crappy i3 laptop with no working battery and I though I could do something with it. Having been without one for almost two years now I was finally motivated and desperate enough to try linux.
People always suggeted it to me for an OS but I was always weary when I had paid work people were relying on me for. But here and now, lets try it.
It took a few tries but heres how it ended up working. Found an 'iso image' there are many and it took 5 tries but I got one.
So with the iso file on my phone i had to use a burner app Etchdroid then on the laptop change the BIOS (startup) so it reads USB and that was about it.
The Ubuntu flavor of Linux took a few reboots to work without the usb but once it did I was set.
I have always been a fan of open source and workibg together on prjects without greed. There are some cool aps and it even works with steam and bleander.
I would need a better computer for more andvanved games but one called 0ad runs well and is simlar to a game I loved called rise of nations. I cant wait to get home from work and try again.
